I am so excited to share these baby shower invitations that I designed for my friend, Kristen! Kristen is a fun, color-loving gal, and so her shower invitations needed to be the same. Read more about the design on the Oh So Beautiful Paper feature.
CUSTOM DESIGN: You are my Sunshine Baby Shower Invitations
Lesa Abney and I were destined to be friends, I think. A co-worker told me about a stationery friend of hers, and I went to her blog to check her out, only to see that we were both working for the same stationery company (RIP Indigo Prints). We set up a wine date and after 2 hours of chatting we began to talk about our husbands. Our conversation went something like this: Lesa: "Steve went to UT." Me: "Oh, so did Carter." Lesa: "Was he in a fraternity?" Me: "Yes, he was a Sig Ep." Lesa: "Steve was a Sig Ep!" Well, I knew then that they had to know each other and sure, enough, our husbands were good buddies in college. Small world! A few days in NYC together, double dates and endless dinners and drinks, I feel like I've known Lesa forever. We have so many connections and things in common, I forget sometimes how it is that we came to know each other, but I am glad we did.
Okay, so all that to tell you that Lesa and I are buddies and so, when Lesa asked me to design her baby shower invitations, it was an immediate yes. There may not be a bigger honor than being asked to design for another designer. It's a big compliment, because let me tell you - we are picky customers.
Lesa's theme was 'You are my Sunshine' and she said to do whatever I wanted. So much trust and faith - I am glad I did not let her down. I enjoyed playing with a little type and hand drawn elements. She loved it, and that's all that matters!
They have since welcomed sweet Evan Kaye and she is 8 months old and a beautiful little model for Lesa's little shop Abneys and Toes. Her blog is also complete cuteness. I have been holding off on sharing them because I submitted an easy-to-customize version to Minted a few months ago. Well, it placed in the top 30 (not something that happens often) and it is now for sale here!
Featured: Surprise Baby Shower on On to Baby
Since I came down with a little cold in this lovely new year, my mind has been a little too foggy to think about resolutions and goals quite yet. I might blow past all that entirely, I can't decide yet (must be feeling particularly rebellious this year!) In the meantime, I did want to share this baby shower that I threw with my friends at The Bell Jar for After Yes's Amanda Connelly, that was featured on 'On to Baby' last week! You might have caught a few photos on the day that I posted to my Instagram feed, but let's be honest, Apryl Ann does a much better job at capturing the prettiness.
It was a surprise shower to celebrate the birth of her daughter and she was truly surprised, which made it very fun.
The desserts tasted as good as they looked - those yellow macarons are too DIE for!

Featured: Viv + Jon's Baby Party Invitations on Oh So Beautiful Paper
I am so excited to share these baby shower invitations, or should I say 'Baby Party' invitations, that were featured on Oh So Beautiful Paper today!
My sweet friend Vivien, who is a designer herself, asked me to design their shower invitations a few months ago, and I was so excited to be a part of the celebration. I love designing for a couples shower - it's kind of a challenge to create something that makes guys want to come - it can't be to 'baby', if you know what I mean.
I shared more of my inspiration over on the blog feature. Go check it out!
Designing for designers is a daunting task, but I love the trust that comes with it. No guidelines, just complete confidence that I would do something she loved. I hope I exceeded her expectations! Love you Viv!
Sweet styling and photography by Heather Hawkins. Thank you Heather!
My Best Friend's Baby Shower
This weekend, I threw my second baby shower of the month for my best friend, Carrie, who is welcoming baby Parker in December. You might remember my Minted party decor submission a few weeks ago, that was inspired by these invites, and I finally snapped some photos to share the actual invitations. (I am sure the suspense has been killing you!)
We didn't have a theme, but I wanted it to be tied into her nursery, which will have olives and greys. And of course, I couldn't just do regular invitations - I had to add a little something (or several somethings) to make them special. I used olive envelopes, striped liners and tied each one with twine and a tag suggesting guests bring a book for Parker's library.
At the shower, there were more paper goodies: a banner, food/drink signs and little book plates for all the books that people brought.
It was one dreary weekend in Texas, but we had a fun time and I wrapped up my baby shower hosting duties for the year. Now we just get to wait patiently for the arrival of all the babies! I am so excited!
