Custom Design: Surprise 30th Birthday

palm papers invitations The only requirement for this custom design: masculine. Since I'm a pretty minimalist designer and I have a deep love for the color grey, it was pretty easy for me to keep it on the manly side. Using black, grey and bold typography, I had fun conveying the surprise aspect and the fact that he's turning 30 (not just your average birthday - I know because my next one will be 30 - yikes!). I printed the 'Shhh, it's a surprise' seal on the envelopes as well, and those were a hit.

AND - I hear he was indeed surprised. A success!

Meet Sugar

dallas wedding invitations Sugar, from the Fresh collection, is as sweet as its name. With the mix of stripes and polka dots, its playful and modern, but still sophisticated and oh-so unique. I designed every invitation to work in both flat print and letterpress, and while the samples for it are flat printed, the design in letterpress would be a real show stopper.

I love black and white. And as it turns out, I love black and white and pink just as much. Throw in a few polka dots and you've got quite a pretty combination.

Custom Design: Nursery Inspired Birth Annoucements

Erin Sander, from Erin Sander Design, is an amazingly talented interior designer here in Dallas and not surprisingly designed a stunning nursery for her son, Ryan. custom birth announcements

Wow! (I bet there's no question what she does when you walk into her home!) I love the mix of patterns and those blue drawer pulls. She wanted the birth announcements to be inspired by the nursery and I was excited to work with some bold colors and unique patterns.

I designed 2 concepts for her and I didn't want to take the nursery connection too literally. If you've seen the nursery, you'll know that I was inspired by it, but I wanted it to stand alone as a birth announcement that someone would love without having seen it.

Usually, I am partial to a certain design and I cross my fingers and hope they choose my favorite, but in this case, I loved both so much that I didn't know how to choose. Good thing that's not part of my job description. After a little pattern change, we had the final, adorable, product.

Have you ever seen a fuller head of hair? So cute! Let's hope that stays with him his entire life!

New Business Cards!

Ever since I went to NSS, I have been running LOW on business cards. I knew my next batch of cards would be letterpress and a bit of an investment, so I wanted to be SURE about the design. Enter every designers biggest dilemma: designing for yourself. It is so hard! I knew I wouldn't venture far from my original design, but wanted to add a bit of a wow factor, considering paper is my business. I wanted my cards to reflect my design aesthetic and the quality of invitations I offer, as well as my overall brand. I think I achieved what I was a going for. I absolutely love them. They are printed on 220# Crane's Lettra card stock in fluorescent white and are printed front and back. To add a little 'wow' I replaced my palm tree with palm leaves in a blind impression. I LOVE them.

Meet Cedar

vineyard winery wedding invitations Cedar, from the Resort collection, is a modern take on a vintage wine label. I don't like to take any theme to literally, so I love the subtle touch of vintage wine graphics to balance the modern patterns on the extra pieces.

If I couldn't get married by the beach, a vineyard would be my second choice. I love wine and creating a vineyard-theme wedding board was hardly difficult. I wish I were sipping a glass of pinot right now...
