Sip & See

I think it's time I start sharing some of the designs I've been working on. I have a lot of stuff in queue, so let's get started shall we? This weekend, I co-hosted a 'sip and see' for my sister and her precious son, Anderson, and naturally, I took care of the invitations. Usually, I like to give my sister some input, but decided to just surprise her with the invite in the mail. She's not really a 'theme' person, so I just kept them clean and simple.

I printed these invites on 100% cotton paper and rounded the corners with my trusty new corner rounder, which is officially my favorite new gadget in the studio. I'm rounding the corners on everything!

We had punch and appetizers and of course, yummy cupcakes from Society Bakery, my sister's favorite. I made little cupcake toppers, with 'A's on them and the rest of the girls pitched in with gorgeous flowers and really delicious food.

And let's not forget the guest of honor. Anderson was a little angel. As always.

Font Friday: Tart Workshop

Photobucket There's no secret that I love handwritten fonts (see here and here), but lately I've been particularly smitten with the fonts from Tart Workshop. Tart Workshop is the collaboration between illustrator Crystal Kluge and typographer Stuart Sandler of Font Diner, and together they create beautiful hand-lettered typefaces.

Photobucket

A few of my favorites are Nelly Script, Bookeyed Jack, Bookeyed Susan and Silverstein. While these are no strangers to my Font Friday friends, if you are looking for some new affordable handwritten fonts, look no further than here. With most of the fonts costing about $29.95, they are easy to get their hands on and worth every penny.

Don't have the extra cash? Get a little taste of Tart for FREE by downloading Mountains of Christmas here.

Font Friday: Gelateria

Photobucket Sometimes you fall in font love when you see it used in a design by another designer. That's how I fell for Gelateria, this fun retro font by Ryoichi Tsunekawa. Laura Hankins, a fellow Minted designer, used Gelateria recently in a wedding invitation design challenge. I am a fan of Laura's designs and love the feminine, retro feel of this invitation.

Gelateria was based on shop front lettering and advertisements from the 1950s. At only $20, it's a great deal and even though I've already exceeded my font budget for the week month, I might go snag this right now. What's another 20 bucks right?

The Weekend

Photobucket I think I might start doing little iPhone photo posts, because it gives me a reason to get them off my phone and they just make smile. Saturday was my birthday and I spent the weekend truly relaxing. I got breakfast in bed, roses for my studio, and I even scored a nap, which I haven't had in years. Don't I have some cute napping buddies? We went to my sister's and my little niece sang happy birthday to me several times. We are getting really good at that song. After being home for a couple hours, I took my sweater off to find stickers all over the front of my shirt, which I had completely forgotten about. I love being an aunt!

Just a reminder, the holiday giveaway with Chips and Salsa Design Studio closes at midnight, so if you want to get some free holiday cards, hurry and get your name in before the deadline.

Happy Monday!

Font Friday: A Giveaway

Photobucket Instead of just featuring a font this week, we are doing a little (well, it's actually kind of big) collaborative giveaway with Jason Mark Jones, the designer of the font, Skunkling.  All the #FontFriday gals are designing free printables using this fun font AND you can win a free copy of Skunkling to create some designs of your own.

In the spirit of the holidays, I created some cute little holiday gift tags. Print, cut and tie them onto your gifts! Photobucket
