Meet Max and His birth announcement

While we are on the topic of babies, I wanted to share this custom birth announcement that I did a couple of months ago.

This design brought up a question that I've gotten before... What do you do for a child that will be called something other than their legal name? (This cute little guy's name is Bradley Maxwell, but he will be called Max.) I think it's necessary to use their full name on the announcement, but I do like to get creative if the parents want to let friends and family know what he will be called. In this case we went with 'Meet Max' and put his full name below with this birth statistics. I think it's a perfect balance and love how these turned out. Thanks Megan and welcome to the world baby Max!

More Holiday Font Spotting

I didn't have time to choose a font this Friday, but I can't go a week without a little font goodness.After eyeing J.Crew's lovely font use last week, someone pointed out that Panera Bread was using Bookeyed Suzanne for their holiday promotions. So festive!

Holiday Inspiration

Minted teamed up with West Elm and came up with great ideas on how to display all the lovely holiday cards that you receive in the mail. They shared them on their blog this week and I couldn't help but show the pretty ideas. I just received my first holiday card in the mail and thought a little holiday decorating inspiration would be fitting for the first day of December.

Thankful

I never did a Thanksgiving post, but I am surely thankful for so many things. It's been quite a year, and I am especially thankful for my sweet supportive family.  Couldn't do much without them.

As far as the Thanksgiving weekend went, we spent the weekend with Carter's family and since there are no kiddos in the picture yet, we watched a lot of football (I read and designed while all that was going on), grilled and relaxed, relaxed, relaxed. We decorated our Christmas tree and I have listened to the Michael Buble CD about a million times - I'm in full holiday mode.

Sunday evening, we spent time at my sisters and I made brownies with Annie.  She doesn't like anything brown, so she scrunches up her nose and says "I don't like chocolate". About 2 minutes into licking the batter, she discovered that she did indeed like chocolate and started saying 'I like chocolate' over and over. We ended up forgoing the clothes (hers, not mine) to really enjoy it. As of last night, she no longer was interested in brownies, but let's be honest the batter is really the best part!
